One of my first memories of Angie was during one of our group coaching calls, I had talked about really getting out of my own way and recognizing how some of my own life experiences were showing up in my business [and blocking success]. Building awareness of how your identity, personality, life experiences affect your business success.

Angie: Importance of inner work for business success, we have special connections to inner work and self-growth work, which is so valuable for business owners. Many put that on the back burner and it blocks the opportunity to level up.

Lyz: The power of connection and community: I am a psychologist, I provide mental health treatment individually and in group therapy.  

Angie: Enneagram is a personality typing system and a spiritual growth and development system. Helps people understand their behaviors and core motivations on a deeper level. Human Design relies on information that is astrologically-based and you must know your birth date and time.

The Enneagram has spiritual roots, and it is approximately one thousand years old. In the 1970’s it shifted into the spiritual and psychological typing system that we use today. There are Nine Enneagram Archetypes. They are interconnected. Start with figuring out which type you are. They have hundreds of thousands of iterations - after you figure out your core types, you can spend time discovering your subtypes, wings, etc. 

Step 1 - Figuring out your core type.

Lyz: Why I loved discovering the Enneagram and meeting Angie! I have educational roots in personality psychology:  I used the NEO - Five Factor Model for personality - in my dissertation research and as a foundation for helping my clients better understand themselves.  There is correlation and connection between the Five Factor Model (measures Openness to Experience, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeableness, and Neuroticism - ability and capacity to adjust well (emotionally and mentally) to life circumstances).

My intuitive message a few years ago: “you have more to offer in the spiritual realm” and the connection and overlap with psychology and spirituality. I am so grateful for my connection with Angie and application of the Enneagram to help me understand myself better and help others more effectively.

Enneagram as a bridge for psychological and spiritual dimensions of experience and knowledge.

Lyz: Angie helped me understand my type and apply it to my life, relationships, and my business.

Angie:  Enneagram is a helpful tool that helps us in our businesses and lives to accomplish our goals and see tangible increases in our confidence.  An aspect of the Enneagram is the spiritual growth path for spiritual transformation, and it is helpful to have an open mind and desire to grow spiritually.  Deep spiritual connection does not necessarily mean religious 

Lyz: Main focus in my work: Aligning our energy - Body, Mind, Heart, Soul, and Spirit - with our Values, Mission, and Vision.

Angie: the overlap of Body, Mind, Heart, Soul, and Spirit with the Enneagram - The Triads and the Ultimate goal: to have a balance of all 9 types in your personality. Gut Triad (Body); Head Triad (Mind); Heart Triad (Heart); and the Soul Transformation that you get from the Enneagram (Growth Paths); Spirit - Spiritual Connectedness is embedded in the Enneagram and the ultimate goal to incorporate and balance them all.

Three personality types are included in each triad.

Gut Triad (Types 1, 9, 8) - experience the world through the lens of the body. Metaphor: Police Dog - using instinct and training, move fast, efficient and aggressive/assertive and specific when they need to be.

Head Triad (Types 5, 6, 7) - experience life through the lens of mental processes and using their mind and head to think things through, logically driven. Metaphor: Librarian - move more slowly, they are thoughtful; have a wealth of information and mental processes that keep them grounded.

Heart Triad (Types 2, 3, 4) - see the world through feelings, emotions are primary language. Metaphor: Therapist/Counselor/Coach - speak emotional language of others; alter personality to make people around them feel more comfortable; sensitive.

Implications of the Enneagram on your relationships and professional goals:  Knowing and understanding your own type and the types that you connect well with can help enhance relationships.

Implications for Business: the Enneagram helps to understand motivations behind behaviors of yourself and your coworkers, colleagues, etc. Research on using Enneagram typing indicates positive outcomes when utilizing the Enneagram to create effective groups and teams at work.

How to learn your Enneagram type: Quizzes on-line can be helpful but sometimes lead to mis-typing. To identify your type, purchase a typing session with Angie!
