  • Dr. Maggie Landes and I have a shared passion for helping women live with confidence, balance, and joy.  We met through our membership in the Unstuck Entrepreneur Coaching Community with Shawn Mynar.

Bio for our guest, Dr. Maggie Landes:

  • Maggie Landes is a board-certified physician, public health nutritionist, and anti-diet wellness expert. She created her signature getEATfluenced® coaching program to help women who are exasperated with chronic dieting, be able to fix their food overwhelm and live a full and unrestricted life pursuing their personal passions and attain optimal health without the distraction of rigid eating behavior.  She is also the creator and host of “The Eatfluencer Podcast” where she and her guests dig into the mindset work required to construct a healthy, complete, and high-quality life unlimited by the oppression of diet culture.
  • Maggie has been a physician for over 20 years and also earned her Master’s Degree in Public Health Nutrition. She currently works in the anti-diet wellness space as a diet culture disruptor, speaker, and educator.  Maggie provides group coaching to help women disconnect from the pressure to “micromanage” body weight and navigate health outside of the lens of diet culture and weight loss.
  •  “Diet culture” - systematic beliefs in our country:
    • Weight and health are the same thing.
    • Smaller is better; everyone should be pursuing smallness.
    • Adult women have a responsibility to shrink themselves physically and/or maintain that  “shrunken” version.
    • Medical industry is influenced by and arranged around diet culture.
  • “Forced Pause” - Maggie was diagnosed with cancer and spent time during her treatment and recovery to learn more about health and wellness with a focus on nutrition.  She learned that although science evolves,  “Nutrition” guidelines have not.
  • People recognize that diets don’t work. Maggie helps women find the alternative to think about food and approach food - shop and cook and relate to your body without dieting.  She helps women replace the diet structure with new thinking patterns and behaviors to live confidently and well.

    • With her clients, Maggie explores - Why do you want to lose weight?
    • And clients identify the following goals with the belief that weight loss is the only way to get there:
      • “I will be more confident”
      • “I will feel sexier”

      • “I will sleep better”
      • “I can participate in fun activities”
      • “I want to decrease joint pain”
    • Maggie encourages women to pursue those goals on the list and “leave the scale out of it.”
